Swim Meet

I went to a swim meet on Sunday. It was really hot. After every race, I left my towel on my chair IN THE SHADE, and it was dry after about 5 to 10 minutes. Wow.

I ended up getting 1st, 1st, and 3rd. We were itching to get home afterwards, but when we reached the car, we found it dipped in hot oil and blackening in a pan. Luckily, my still wet towel protected me from the sizzling black oil, which was a relief.

(if you still don't get it, our car has dark paint and black leather. black is hot. really hot.)

Fun Fact 3

Bats always turn left when exiting a cave.

Fun Fact 2

Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.

Fun Fact 1

The pupil of the eye expands as much as 45 percent when a person looks at something pleasing.

Stanford to Home

We woke up groggy, but after breakfast, we were excitedly packing up. Yes, we were sad to leave, but the final stop of our trip was Stanford.

Stanford buildings were a brownish tan color with red roofs. Again, we saw the engineering building. It was located behind a lot of trees.

Many students biked from place to place. We counted 100's of bikes, and many had baskets attached. I don't mean those cute woven baskets with curly ribbons; I mean metal, collapsable baskets.

We had lunch at Stanford. There was a food court called Union Square with lots of places to eat. We chose Subway again, and this time I had a footlong Club. Once again, GO SUBWAY!!!!!

Subway yumminess filled our stomachs as we climbed aboard the Dodge to go back home. We watched some movies and fell asleep, then watched some more. We had dinner at a korean market.

Finally, we reached home. Our parents went to return our Dodge, so we were left to unpack. Good-bye, Dodge! It sounds mushy, but I really liked that Dodge Charger.

So thats the end of our trip! I hope you enjoyed reading about it as much as I enjoyed San Francisco!

Lombard Street Sign

I saw this sign on the sidewalk of Lombard Street where the slope angle seems like 45 degrees. I thought it was pretty funny.

PREVENT
RUNAWAYS
___________

The Grand San Francisco Tour Part 2

The one and only Ghirardelli Square is located along Lombard Street. After the run, we parked the Dodge and walked to the beach for few pictures. Then, all four of us hiked (yes, hiked) up Lombard Street to Ghirardelli Square. The shelves were loaded with Ghirardelli products. All of this made my mouth water.

We ended up getting an 80-piece bag. GO GHIRARDELLI!!!!!

The next stop of the tour was Union Square. It is really busy. The sidewalks were crammed up with people, and vehicles littered the street. We drove across the Square and back, and then left for Golden Gate Park.

In the meantime, we ate lunch at Subway. GO SUBWAY!!!!!

At Golden Gate Park, we cruised past a huge pond full of birds. After some shots (no, not shooting) we drove on. The Dodge was parked and we walked along a quiet, peaceful, cool forest path It was really great to know that even in a bustling city like San Francisco, anyone can escape reality and feel the calming aura of nature.

After we got back into the car, our family drove out of the park. We saw some buffalo and tons of daisies.

Outside the park, we say a big windmill and the ocean.

We ate dinner at Panda Express and ended the Grand San Francisco Tour with some GREAT KUNG PAO CHICKEN!!!!!

The Grand San Francisco Tour Part 1

After breakfast at the hotel's breakfast buffet, we hit the road. The first stop on our San Francisco tour was the Golden Gate Bridge. We parked at a vista point and looked around, but then we got back into the Dodge and made a run across the bridge. It was really cool. I also thought I saw Alcatraz along the way. After, we circled around and drove across again.

The next stop was the Presidio. However, we just parked by the Exploratorium and walked around it. There was a pond in front, and hundreds of birds were swimming around.

The Exploratorium itself was beautiful. It was really facsinating to know that humans crafted it themselves without the help of machines.

Did you know that Lombard Street is the crookedest street in the world? It's true. Lombard Street starts with a steep 45 degree climb up a hill. Then, as the street starts to wind, the pavement changes, and you find yourself on bricks. The downhill run curves, twists, and turns along a steep pass before reaching a flat area and turning to pavement again. Then, the road slopes down another 45 degree angle run before flattening out again.

We got to ride down this roller coaster road. It was really thriling (for a road) and my mom screamed occasionally. It was probably fake, but it was funny.

Our Hotel

By then, it was like 3:30 PM, and all of us wanted to just get to our hotel. Finally, our dad gave in, and soon we pulled into Best Western. Our room is on the 8th floor, so the view from the window is pretty cool. We can see the bay from the window.

I am writing all my posts in this room. We have a pretty decent room, but I personally think the blankets are too hot.

(Actually, blankets are always hot for me.)

Later, we went to dinner at a small place called Sushi Queen. I had terriaki chicken with rice and soup, and I thought the food was really delicious.

Back in our room, we really didn't do much. Our parents told us to go to bed at 8, so that was that.

Fisherman's Wharf

After we drove out of Berkeley, we arrived at San Francisco.

We didn't do much at the Fisherman's Wharf. However, we did walk around, and we came upon a dock that gave us access to a view of Alcatraz. We were really far away, but it was a cool thing to see.

After Alcatraz, we went to Pier 39 and took some pictures.

That's when we noticed a whole MOB of people at the edge of the pier. It turns out that there was a whole group of seals resting there. We went to see them, and then we went back to the Dodge.

Free Rider 2 Code

For all of you who play Free Rider 2, here is a code for it. I call it San Francisco Tours.

Give it a try. Use copy and paste.

UC Berkeley

We pulled into UC Berkeley at around 9:30 AM. The parking lot was up a small but steep hill.

We had to pay for a permit. The machine seemed to have problems, because it kept saying "INSUFFICIENT MONEY". Finally, we pressed cancel, but then, the permit came out.

At UC Berkeley, we walked around the campus. There were many buildings, but the one that caught my eye was the Engineering building. I want to be a computer software engineer when I grow up so the building was pretty interesting.

Besides the buildings, there wasn't much to see at the university. Pretty soon, we hiked up the hill to our Dodge and drove on to San Francisco.

The Drive to San Francisco

Wow! Spring break is already here. Today at 3 in the morning, we were dragged out of our beds and into our rented Dodge Charger. It was dark outside, but many lights were still on. My parents told my sister and I to go back to sleep, but I found that difficult. Finally, though, I drifted off.

When I woke, it was about 6 in the morning. My mom told me to go back to sleep, but I couldn't. Everyone was hungry, so we stopped by McDonalds for breakfast.

After the meal, we hit the road. My sister and I played around and watched the movie Marley and Me for the rest of the car ride.

There were lot of farms and groves. We also passed a field of windmills.
